The 1992 Senatorial election results. The first 12 will serve a full 6 year term. The second 12 only serves for 3 years until 1995.
In the same elections, Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino became the dominant party in the Senate. Of the 24 slots, 16 went to LDP and even got the top 4 spot. The LDP Senators are: Vic Sotto, Ed Angara, Ramon Revilla Sr., Ernesto Herrera Jr., Alberto Romulo, Neptali Gonzales Sr., Orly Mercado, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Freddie Webb, Heherson Alvarez, Teofisto Guingona, Blas Ople, Rodolfo Biazon, Jose Lina, Raul Roco and Butz Aquino. NPC got 4 namely Nikki Coseteng, John Osmena, Arturo Tolentino, Ernesto Maceda and Kit Tatad. Lakas NUCD has Letecia Ramos-Shahani, and Santanina Rasul while the Liberal Party-PDP Laban has Wigberto Tanada.
In this tabulation, Alfredo Bengzon occupied the 23rd spot but in the final tally, Kit Tatad overtook Bengzon and Silvestre Bello III to clinch the spot in the 24 member Senate.
Among the notable names who failed to enter the Magic 24 are, incumbent Senators Victor Ziga, Sotero Laurel and current Budget Secretary Florencio Abad who ran under the Liberal Party-PDP Laban coalition. Another incumbent Senator at that time, Senator Mamintal Tamano lost. He ran under the Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino.
